What has China done to modern football?
Ramires, Alex Teixera, Oscar, Hulk, John Obi Mikel, Carlos Tevez, Graziano Pelle, and Jackson Martinez – these are just some of many big names lured to China to play football. Their motive was that it clearly was their childhood dream to win the Asian Champions League, right? Wrong. All these players have been lured by the strong financial strength of the Chinese Super League. Continue reading Is China Ruining Football?
This weekend, as I was watching the Tottenham-Wycombe FA Cup fixture, Tottenham Hotspur went down 2-0 at halftime. After a seemingly effective Pochettino halftime talk, the Spurs equalized within 20 minutes. But there were more twists to this tale; Wycombe scored what seemed be the winner with 7 minutes remaining in regular time. But, once again, Spurs weren’t done – Dele equalized 6 minutes later and Heung-min Son won it deep into stoppage time. This was the second consecutive match in which I saw Son bail out Tottenham (after he equalized late in a 2-2 draw against Manchester City). This led me back to his magical form at the start of the season, which won him EPL Player of the Month. But no matter what he does, he can’t seem to crack into Tottenham’s starting lineup, which led me to a very interesting question: What’s next for Son? Continue reading The Future for Son

Reports have it that Griezmann will be on the market this summer with United close to the top of the list to get him. Griezmann really blew up at the 2016 Euros where he scored 6 goals and took home the golden boot despite France falling short to Portugal. Not only did he bring energy to the team but he scared other teams he played against. Continue reading The Griezmann Effect

With a new generation of footballers, lots of traditional standards are disappearing.
