FIFA Out to get Messi?

Recently Messi has been in the headlines over some controversie that happened over the international break. Clearly frustrated with the game, he got into a bit of an argument and had some choice words with the referee. And guess what that little outburst resulted in . . . a ban 4 matches.

Now whats wrong with that? Refs should be shown respect right? Yes that is 100% true, however, a 4 game match ban seems very harsh. Did FIFA truly believe they were making the correct call? Or is it because FIFA might be after him. Now this is not a full blown conspiracy theory – there could very well be a lot of truth to this. Now what could they have against Messi, arguably the best player in the world?

Well, Messi along with a couple of other Barcelona players didn’t attend the FIFA awards were they were voted into the FIFPro World XI. They didn’t attend due to Barcelona holding their players back for preparation for the Copa del Rey. FIFA could be upset with the players for not attending this. But remember when Messi got in some trouble for tax problems? FIFA might feel that Messi got away with something.

These reasons might be why Messi got a 4 match ban because honestly, four matches for saying “f*** o**, the c*** of your mother” is unreasonable. Yes it is profane, but rants like this are common on the professional pitch. There has defiantly been worse said to a ref without receiving any ban.

Will Messi’s absence affect Argentina that much? In my opinion, not as much as other people think. Argentina still have an amazing squad, with the likes of Di Maria, Aguero, Dybala and many others. Yes, in their first game without Messi, Argentina struggled – but on their night, they are nearly impossible to beat, even without their star man. The trick for them is just getting them motivated every time – something a feeling of injustice can surely provide.

Overall, I feel that Messi got gyped and 4 games is just out right stupid.
